Our Team

Founder & CEO

Anthony van der Merwe, our Founder and CEO, is South African born, and a businessman and entrepreneur and based in Florida, USA. He has been successful for the last 35 years in the Renewable Fuels and Energy Sector, where he also owned and operated Fueling Terminals and Fuel Storage Facilities. His expertise extends to other industries as well, which include the Mining Sector, Aviation Industry, and Technology Sector in various industries. Having extensive knowledge of specialty Alloys and Metals, and direct access to Rare Earth Metals and Minerals, all he brings to the table are fundamental to the Space Sector. His is a natural leader, highly motivated and dedicated, and hos “no-failure-option” mindset sets him apart from the norm. He has great Empathy for others and has a drive to make a difference in the Space Industry overall.

Vice President & Middle East Relations

Basman Shina. Having immigrated to the United States in 2005, Basman has a proven track record of excellence in building relationships across retail and wholesale markets. His exceptional people skills and innate ability to connect individuals and businesses have been evident since a young age, making him an invaluable asset to FAST Space Corp. With a visionary mindset and deep empathy for others, he is driven by his dream of uplifting the Middle East region, recognizing its immense potential to contribute to the space industry in transformative ways. His commitment to fostering collaboration and driving impactful results makes him ideal as Head of Middle East Relations.

Product Development

Mark Malone is a Co-founder of FAST Space Corporation, and also a U.S. Military Veteran who has excellent entrepreneurial and business skills that have served him well over the years. His expertise in Engine Optimization and Efficiency, coupled with his excellent logistics background, will all be of great value in the company. Mark is an intellectual with insight across various other technologies we will harness. He is also passionate about the quest for Space, and all the Space Sector has to offer. Mark is also an individual who has Empathy for his fellow man, and he is always trying to help others, which is a quality we value.

Technology Officer

Walter Capes started out studying Electrical Engineering and Project Management at Cambridge University, to become a seasoned Telecommunications Professional with over 34 years’ experience in GSM Network Operations, Technical Solutions Development, Network Planning, and Network Design. He is recognized for driving operational excellence, leading high-performing professional teams, and delivering strategic solutions in emerging markets. He has spearheaded complex operational initiatives and turnaround strategies, and his main area of expertise is in Telecoms Networks and Optimization Process Engineering. He also has extensive experience in the Petroleum and Energy Value Chain and held high-level positions in several Energy Companies.

Africa Relations

Billy Selekane is a successful entrepreneur and motivational speaker, coaching CEO’s, MD’s, HR Executives and more all over the world, creating high-performance organizational cultures in Aviation, Mining, Banking, Medical, and Governments. Billy’s access to ties within the Mining and Aerospace Industries will be a tremendous value add to FAST Space Corporation, and his leadership and motivational skills and Empathy for his fellow man will keep our Company moral at optimum levels at all times. Billy is vital in bringing people together in different industries, and this is also where he will play an important role.
